Allergies
The immune system protects the body from foreign substances. This is known as overreaction an allergy. Allergic reactions range from mild conditions, such as hay fever, to a life-threatening illness called anaphylaxis.
Triggers
The cause that triggers the allergies is called allergens. Following are the Common allergens:
- nuts,
- Pollen (flowers of flowers), and
- Animal hair.
Allergeners can cause reactions when swallowed, inhaled and in contact. The affected part of the body is usually red and swollen as if it were infected.
Asthma
These allergies are caused by airborne diseases and affect the airways that lead to the lungs. In asthma attack, the muscles in the walls of the airways suddenly tighten and making breathing difficult. The airways are also inflamed and produce thick mucus, which makes matters worse.
Rare but deadly
For some people, allergies are also so bad that they affect the whole body and can even stop the heartbeat. This rare but life-threatening disease is known as anaphylaxis and can be caused by insect bites. Some people have this allergies always carry emergency medications all the time for use during an anaphylactic reaction.
Test for Allergies
Some people suffer because they do not know the cause. To identify the culprit, doctors perform skin tests. The range of allergies – such as pollen, fur, or food – is applied to the skin. The skin is then monitored to see if it is swollen or red.
