Now days a fake SMS message is going viral, giving people a link to a fake app to register for the COVID-19 vaccine in India. This app spread the malware through fake SMS messages when we have installed it on our phones instead of registering for Covid Vaccination (Covid-19 Vaccination).

Researcher says that the link given in the SMS installs this warm app in the phone. After this, it sends a message with the same link via SMS to all the contacts included in the phone without the user’s knowledge.

The app was initially named COVID-19, although it later received an update and was renamed ‘Vaccine Register’. Currently we are facing many problems in registering for the vaccine and getting the availability of vaccination slots. Therefore, by tempting to register easily, attackers can be successful in installing this app on a large scale.

Malware researcher Lukas Stefanko of cybersecurity firm ESET has tweeted about an SMS message advising people to download the app to register for the COVID-19 vaccination. A link to the app is also given in this message. The app is targeting Indian users and according to the researcher, it mimics ‘COVID-19 vaccine free registration’.

Researcher says that the link given in the SMS installs this warm app in the phone. After this, it sends a message with the same link via SMS to all the contacts included in the phone without the user’s knowledge. In this way it is spreading rapidly.

This app was initially being spread under the name COVID-19 and was later renamed Vaccine Register through updates. Not only this, a light mode has also been created, through which attackers can also target users with low-end mobile devices and increase their reach.

So please do not get into any such SMS message and make your close friends aware of such scam.

About 55 banks, e-wallets, e-commerce sites, payment gateways and other institutions are interconnect to create a platform known as ‘Citizen Financial Cyber ​​Fraud Reporting System’. Through this platform, victims of online financial frauds can be saved in a very short time. Through this helpline, till data 3 lakh 13 thousand rupees of 21 people are saved.

If online fraud occurs, there are ten lines of this helpline number, so that no one gets busy with this number. When you call on this helpline number (155260), you will be asked the name, number, and timing of the incident. After taking the basic details, it will be forwarded to the respective portal and dashboard of that bank and e-commerce. Also, information will be shared on the bank of the victim.

After receiving the OTP, the card holder will have to write the LOCKUID Aadhaar number and send the message to 1947 again. Now the number will be locked after this.

Steps to Unlock Aadhaar

To unlock the Aadhaar number, the card holder has to obtain the OTP by writing the GETOTP Aadhaar number from his register number to 1947.

After getting 6 digits OTP, send the message in the following format-

‘UNLOCKUID’ ‘Aadhaar number’ ‘OTP’

After doing so, the Aadhaar number will be unlocked.

After this cyber attack, many users’ data have been leaked and these data are being sold on the hacker’s forum Dark Web. According to the report, more than 18 million orders of Domino’s data are available on the dark web. This data leak took place earlier this month but no news was given to the customers.

In this data leak, along with customer data, the entire horoscope of about 250 employees of the company and some files of the company have also been leaked, which is about 13TB in size, although Domino has not said anything on this matter so far.
